Volunteer
Audubon has numerous opportunities to get involved at our center. This is a special way to earn community service hours! Please RSVP to the center for work days so we can plan appropriately; (415) 388-2524. Occasional Saturday opportunities are available, call for more information.
We have many more ways to volunteer!
Join us in one any of the following:
- Adventure Field Trips: Learn how to lead science field trips for students in preschool through 6th. A training period is required. Contact person: Hilary Benson, ext. 107.
- Bay Shore Studies: Save the Bay, one 10-year-old at a time! Volunteer with the Bay Shore Studies Program and we'll teach you how effectively lead and inspire small groups of 4th - 6th graders through our intertidal. Volunteer training begins each fall, but you can sign up today. Contact Wendy Dalia at (415) 388-2524, ext. 111.
- Front desk: Greet visitors in the nature store. Sell store merchandise. Answer phone calls and assist with office work as needed. Contact person: Carol Schwartz, ext. 113.
- Weekend events: Help lend a hand during weekend events, family programs, and birthday parties. Contact person: Wendy Dalia, ext. 111.
- Restoration Work Days: Help remove invasive plants, plant natives, collect seeds, and enjoy being outdoors with our staff and other volunteers. Contact person: Mindy Hiatt, ext. 107 for Blackie’s Student Brigade and Youth Volunteer Opportunities; Kerry Wilcox, ext. 101 for Adult opportunities.
- Waterbird Surveys (November March): Monitor water bird populations to gather data on population changes and usage of eelgrass and restoration sites. Contact person: Kerry Wilcox, ext. 101.
- Special Projects: Volunteer on an as-needed basis, with special projects such as mailings, construction work, restoration projects, building maintenance, garden and trail maintenance, etc. Contact person: Kerry Wilcox, ext. 101.
