Girl Scouts Save the Bay!

In the Flyway

Come to the Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary to earn Our Council’s Own Award: Girl Scouts Save the Bay’s In the Flyway Petal, Try-it, Badge, or Interest Project.

The Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary is a designated Important Bird Area (IBA). It provides hundreds of bird species an important feeding area as they travel along the Pacific Flyway. In the Flyway will have girls using binoculars, monitoring sheets, bird taxidermies, artifacts, and the open sky to become young birders. They will search for signs of birds while delving into the fascinating science of migration, nesting, bird behavior, and resource partitioning. Participants will understand the threats to migrating and resident bird populations and learn how the health of our bay plays such a crucial role in their survival. Troops will leave the Center knowing how to be better stewards of the flyway, here and at home.

This program is available for Girl Scouts grades K-12.

Troops can schedule site programs for: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays 3-5pm, or Saturdays between 9 – 5. Weekday programs needing to stay after 5pm must specify need when scheduling program.

Cost*: $15/student or adult
