Teaching young people environmental stewardship, right here at home
Blackie’s Student Brigade, a program supported in partnership with the Tiburon Peninsula Foundation, is designed to involve local children in learning how to care for their environments in an active and responsible way. Named after our well-loved friend of Tiburon, Blackie the Horse, the Brigade began with a desire to restore the native marshlands at Blackie’s Pasture. We focus restoration efforts there, and continue work by educating students and families from the neighborhoods of the Tiburon Peninsula, and out over the communities of Marin County.
We are thrilled to offer many opportunities for participation.
Community Restoration
Restoration is at the heart of the Student Brigade. Each month, September through May, the community is invited to participate in projects at Blackie’s Pasture removing invasive plant species, planting natives, removing marine debris, and helping to improve the overall heath of the habitat.
Work days are the 2nd/second Saturday of each month, 9AM - Noon
