Aramburu Island Restoration:
Canada Geese Exclusion Experiments

As we plan for a big planting of native plants on Aramburu Island this fall after construction is complete, we are experimenting with two strategies to prevent Canada geese from eating the new seedlings: exclusion fencing and coyote decoys.

Richardson Bay Sanctuary is now open to boats

Richardson Bay Audubon Sanctuary is closed to all boat traffic from October 1 through March 31 each year to protect the thousands of migratory ducks, grebes, coots and shorebirds that use the bay for feeding and rest.

Stop by the Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary and buy the news Laws Guide to the San Francisco Bay. Audubon California and Heyday Books partnered on the project to help outdoor enthusiasts become better acquainted with the area’s plants and animals. The foldout guides were created by author and illustrator John Muir Laws, and include four foldout guides that describe the plants and animals commonly found around the Bay.

Richardson Bay to get Weather Station

Audubon is planning to add a weather station and water quality data logger at the Richardson Bay Audubon Sanctuary.
