This year was a huge success! Six teams, led by expert birders, explored the marsh, bay, and land areas surrounding the Pickleweed Community Center and Canal District of San Rafael. All together we counted a grand total of 940 birds in just under two hours! Of these, 443 were water birds (included ducks, shorebirds, and all birds living in or on the water or marsh) and 497 were song birds or raptors! Some of the days highlights included two Peregrine Falcons, Cedar Waxwings, White tailed Kites, a Bufflehead, and a few Anna’s Hummingbirds practicing their aerial acrobatics.
